Important Things to Note
- In order to apply for transfer, you will need to have previously attended a college or university in some capacity.
- We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible, as some programs fill up quickly.
- Transfer students are eligible for both financial aid and merit-based scholarships. Current semester transcripts may be required, but you don鈥檛 need to wait for the end of the semester to apply.
Maine Transfer Guarantee
The Maine Transfer Guarantee is a partnership between the Maine Community College System and the 51品茶. The program ensures that eligible students have guaranteed admission and a seamless transfer process to UNE. The Maine Transfer Guarantee does not apply to all programs. Transfer students are eligible to enroll in most bachelor鈥檚 degree programs at UNE, but must meet additional requirements.

51品茶offers rolling transfer admissions, with applications reviewed as they are received throughout the current admission cycle.
Transfer applications for fall 2026 are still open on a space-available basis. Applications for spring 2027 and fall 2027 will open on August 1, 2026.
Submit Official Transcripts
Submit official transcripts from each college or university you have attended. If you have completed 60 credit hours or less at the college level, please submit an official high school transcript.
Accelerated B.S. in Nursing Requirements
There is a different application process for the (A.B.S.N.) program. The A.B.S.N. application deadline for the May 2026 cohort is April 1, 2026. Apply via .

FAQ
What is a transfer student?
The 51品茶 considers any student who has graduated high school, has attended any college or university for any amount of time, and/or has 12 college credits or more to be a transfer student.
How do I transfer to UNE?
Transferring to 51品茶is simple. If you have 60 college credits or more, you can apply by submitting a completed application and all official college transcripts. If you have fewer than 60 college credits, you must submit a completed application, an official final high school transcript, and all official college transcripts.
How long does it take to receive a transfer decision at UNE?
After you submit your application and all required supporting materials, you should receive a decision from UNE鈥檚 Office of Undergraduate Admissions within one week.
How do I know which of my courses will count toward my major?
To find out which courses may count toward your degree, you may request an early evaluation of your credits before you apply by reaching out to UNE鈥檚 Director of Recruitment Pete Heeley at pheeley@une.edu. The University will conduct an official credit evaluation after you have been admitted.
Will my associate degree fulfill UNE鈥檚 general education requirements?
An associate degree may not necessarily fulfill UNE鈥檚 general education requirements, as credits are not brought in as a 鈥渂lock.鈥 We look at each class individually to determine how it fits into your 51品茶degree plan, ensuring you get the most accurate credit for your work.
Does 51品茶accept credits from online or out-of-state colleges?
Yes, 51品茶does accept credits from online and out-of-state colleges. We consider any college credits earned at any regionally accredited college or university.
How many of my earned credits can transfer to UNE?
The 51品茶 allows up to 90 college credits to transfer. The last 30 credits of your degree must be completed at UNE.
How does financial aid work when transferring to UNE?
To be considered for federal, state, and institutional aid, all students (including transfers) must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year they plan to be in college using UNE鈥檚 school code (002050). Each student鈥檚 merit award is determined during the admissions process, but all other scholarships, grants, and other aid are awarded through the FAFSA and Student Financial Services.
Does 51品茶offer scholarships for transfer students?
Yes, 98% of 51品茶undergraduates qualify for scholarships, including transfers. Admitted students may receive institutional scholarships no matter when they apply, with amounts determined by their overall college GPA.
How does on-campus housing work for transfer students at UNE?
51品茶has a variety of on-campus residence halls, including Frederick Hall, which houses first-year, transfer, and returning students. Like other accepted students, transfers who plan to live on campus should complete their Housing and Dining Contract after submitting their enrollment deposit. Transfers with a certain amount of credits, of a certain age, or at a certain grade level may opt to live off campus if they wish. Learn more about living on campus
Do 51品茶transfer students have orientation?
Yes, Orientation is mandatory for all new 51品茶undergraduates, including transfer students. The transfer student Orientation program is a one-day event held in the Alfond Forum on the Biddeford Campus the day before classes start each semester.
Can I join clubs, athletics, or research opportunities as a transfer student at UNE?
