We are excited for you to join the 51品茶community. Use this information as a guide for important next steps for your fall enrollment.

You鈥檝e earned your place at UNE, and we鈥檙e excited to welcome you to the Nor鈥檈aster community. There鈥檚 still a lot to look forward to before you arrive. Here鈥檚 what you need to know and do as you get ready for your first year at UNE.

Apply for Financial Aid

(FAFSA庐), you鈥檒l be considered for all types of aid, including grants and scholarships, federal loans and federal work study. UNE鈥檚 school code is 002050.

Attend Orientation

New Student Orientation

Orientation prepares you for the academic, social, and personal aspects of university life. You鈥檒l make connections and get the important information you鈥檒l need to start at UNE. Attendance is required for all incoming undergraduate students, including first-time college students and transfer students.

Trailblazer Orientation Tips

In addition to orientation, you have the opportunity to sign up for a Trailblazer trip. Through these off-campus activities, you will meet friends, faculty, current students, and professional staff in a smaller group setting well before school begins. We offer a variety of programs for all interests.

Apply For Housing

Housing

51品茶has a three-year residency requirement. Once we have received your enrollment deposit, you are eligible to to select your roommate and residence hall preferences. If you think you know who you want to live with, you also have the option of inviting friends to be part of your roommate group. Housing assignments are made in priority order based on the date we receive your application. Roommate groups can be created until the end of June, and you will be informed about your housing assignment in mid-July. Learn more about the housing application process at UNE

Living Learning and Themed Living Communities

In addition to your housing application, consider applying for a Living Learning or Themed Living Community. These are specialized experiences for incoming students who want to live in an environment with a central theme, related to either a shared identity or a field of study. Meal Plans and Dining

As a residential student, you are automatically assigned a meal plan, so there is no separate application to complete. The plan includes a set number of meals per week in the dining hall and flexible spending dollars for on-campus dining. You can change your meal plan at the beginning of the semester. Submit Your Health Information and Update Your Emergency Contact

As a new student, you must submit the requirements listed below before living on-campus or attending classes on campus.

Required health information

The following immunizations are required for all 51品茶students attending class on campus:

  • Two doses MMR vaccine after age 1 and at least 28 days aparat of MMR antibody titer showing immunity
  • Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years and maintained during enrollment

Additional immunization requirements for any student living on campus:

  • Meningococcal ACWY vaccine on or after age 16 and within the last 5 years prior to initial move in.

Please check with your program for any additional requirements you may need to provide to them.

Required immunizations must be uploaded to the Medicat Portal. Before uploading, please make sure that each document has your name and date of birth.

  1. Scan and save your documents individually to your computer or take a picture with your smart phone. If you are uploading multiple documents, save each document as a separate file and upload them individually.
  2. Login to the patient portal at        
  3. Click on 鈥淯pload Documents鈥 
  4. Scroll down to choose the type of document you are uploading (鈥淚mmunization Record鈥)
  5. Click on 鈥淪elect File鈥 then choose the document you want to upload (or if you are on your phone, you can select a photo from the photo library)
  6. Then click the upload button at the bottom of the 鈥淯pload Documents鈥 list

There will be additional forms to complete in your Medicat Portal and you will also need to upload a copy of your insurance card.

Review the checklist below to make sure you are staying on track with providing the required information:

  • Make sure you can log in to your Medicat Portal using your 51品茶user name and password. Please note that your password cannot contain these special characters: * &  $  %  鈥  <  >  ! 
  • Upload your immunization documents
  • Complete the Demographic and Health Insurance Information form and save it in the Upload Documents section
  • Upload a copy of the front and back of your insurance card (click on 鈥淚nsurance鈥 in the left-hand menu on the home screen of the portal)
  • Fill out the Medical History form
  • Sign the Consent to Treat, Privacy Notice and Financial Agreement forms
Health insurance

As a 51品茶student, you are required to have health insurance. You have the option to:

  • Purchase health insurance through UNE.
  • Waive the 51品茶plan if you are already insured. The Enrollment/Waiver Period will run from 7/1/2026 to 8/30/2026. Please bookmark to submit your waiver or enroll in the plan.

All forms are due by July 1 for new students starting in the fall. If you have questions, contact Student Health Services at (207) 602-2358 in Biddeford, (207) 221-4242 in Portland, or visit the Student Health Services website.

Emergency Contact

We want to know who you鈥檇 like us to contact in case of an emergency on campus, so we require that all students provide an Emergency Contact before the start of the year. Your primary Emergency Contact should be a parent or guardian, and you are welcome to list multiple people if there is more than one person we should contact. Log in to then click the Main Menu, under My SelfService select 鈥淕eneral Services,鈥 and then 鈥淧ersonal Information,鈥 and select the edit icon under  鈥淓mergency Contact鈥 to complete this step.

Complete Your Academic File

Be sure to submit the following information to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions:

  • Official final high school transcript
  • Advanced Placement scores if applicable
  • Official transcripts for college classes taken for credit
